Sorting through the bureaucratic language of the recently released Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) is tough enough while simultaneously trying to understand how to proceed in implementing these health care reform provisions.

To help employers quickly understand your obligations under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, United Benefit Advisors has highlighted the most crucial components of five PPACA proposed rules. The proposed rule summaries cover the five areas of:

Please keep in mind that all three rules are still in the “proposed” stage. This means that 1) the public has the right to comment on the proposed rules over the next 30 to 60 days and 2) it is very possible that some changes will be made when the rules are finalized.

Health Care Reform Trends from UBA’s 2012 Health Plan Survey

The UBA 2012 Health Plan Survey also shows changes to plans that carriers are already making to comply with PPACA. For instance, as a result of PPACA, 91.7 percent of all plans now offer an unlimited lifetime maximum benefit compared with 81.3 percent in 2011 and just 16. 1 percent in 2010.
