08 Oct United Heartland’s Road to Safety
Originally posted on https://www.unitedheartland.biz
According to information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, driving-related incidents accounted for more than 2 out of every 5 fatal work injuries in 2012 — more than any other occupational category. When we say “drivers,” we’re talking about more than just long-haul truckers or other workers whose primary job is to operate a vehicle.
With that in mind, United Heartland has launched our Road to Safety driving campaign, targeted to businesses with employees who undertake incidental driving as part of their everyday operations. Accidents can happen in a flash, which is why it’s critical to understand the importance of safe driving.
In our campaign toolkit, customers will find all they need to protect employees on the road. Visit our website to download and print the useful pieces below:
Accident Investigation
Finding the cause of an incident and taking steps to control or eliminate it can help prevent similar situations in the future. This brochure will help identify action plans and provide guidance on how to conduct a proper investigation.
Defensive Driving
This brochure details how a vehicle can become a deadly machine in the hands of a careless driver and explains how a good defensive driving attitude is key to worker safety on the road. Use this guide to help create a proper environment in your workplace.
Motor Vehicle Safety
Every employer should be aware of motor vehicle safety, since an employee who drives at the direction or benefit of an employer may be at risk. Learn more about distracted, drowsy, aggressive and impaired driving in this brochure.
Drug and Alcohol Policy
The goal of a workplace drug and alcohol policy is to maintain a work environment that is free from the adverse effects of drugs and alcohol. This document explains why it’s critical to develop your own policies.
Hiring for Safety
Injuries can begin at the date of hire, when insufficient time and resources are committed to ensuring employees are a good fit for their new position and the company. Use this brochure to help you create the safest onboarding process possible.
