Dine In

One of Sara’s favorite homemade recipes is Monkey Bread.

“I have many fond memories of dancing and laughing with my grandmother in her kitchen and grandpa making random monkey sounds from the living room, the next room over.  In my adult life, someone brings monkey bread to just about every family gathering and it always makes me smile.”

Ingredients

  • 3 can biscuits (Hungary Jack or 4 smaller cans)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 stick margarine (1/4 lb)
  • 1 ½ cups nuts (optional)
  • Cherries to decorate (optional)

Directions

Cut biscuits into pieces (approximately 6 pieces each) and roll the pieces into balls.  Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl.  Coat each piece with sugar and cinnamon mixture.  Generously grease a tube pan.  Place balls into the tube pan and layer with nuts if desired.  Melt the butter and brown sugar together – boil for 1 minute.  Pour the mixture over the pan full of the sugared balls.  Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.  Let stand for 10 minutes and flip over

Dine Out

Sara’s favorite restaurant is La Casita, a small, family-owned, Mexican restaurant in Columbus, Ohio.

“I have many fond memories of summer evenings on the patio with friends and family whether it be celebrations or just an evening catching up.”
